Children's Poetry Competition 2019

Entries are now open for the 2019 Children's Poetry Competition with a deadline of May 22nd. 100 children will have their poems published in our 2019 anthology. There is also an award for the school which sends in the best set of poems.

Poems are judged in 4 age categories:
School years 1-3
School years 4-6
School years 7-9
School years 10-13

In each category there will be 25 poems published in the anthology, and one overall winner. The judges will also choose a number of poems for special commendation.
We will have a special awards ceremony and party at Greenwich Theatre, where the winning poems will be read by professional actors from the Live Canon ensemble, and the children will be presented with certificates and prizes. All children published will get a complimentary copy of the book.

We accept individual entries from young people aged 5 to 18, and schools can send us batches of entries. Poems can be on any subject or theme, but should be predominantly in English. Poems can be handwritten, typed, scanned or photographed. Please keep a copy as we can't return the poems sent in. Please make sure the poem is completely original and all the child's own work.

Download an entry form below, which has details of where to post or email your entry.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Just email poems @
