GILLIE ROBIC was born in Bombay, a great love and
abiding influence on her. As was the custom, she was
sent away to school in England, which she found a
difficult transition after the colour and richness of
India. She attended the Sorbonne and L’U.C.A.D. in
Paris, after which she studied Theatre Design at the
Central School of Art in London. As part of the dropout
generation, she completed none of these courses.
After a lot of travelling and different jobs, she became
a puppeteer and voice artist, working in theatre, film
and television, and with her own ad hoc company,
Suspended Animation. She is a performer, designer,
maker, director, teacher and writer. Ten years ago, she
turned to poetry.
