In the Kingdom of Shadows


Sue Burge is a freelance creative writing and film studies tutor based in North Norfolk.   As well as teaching extensively in East Anglia she also runs a popular international writing course by e-mail subscription, The Writing Cloud.  In 2016 Sue received an Arts Council Grant to write a body of poetry exploring Paris’s cinematic legacy.  The subsequent pamphlet, Lumière,was published in 2018 by Hedgehog Poetry Press, the same year Live Canon published Sue’s first full collection In the Kingdom of Shadows. Sue’s poems have appeared in many journals, anthologies, and webzines, including The North, Mslexia, Tears in the Fence, Magma, The Lampeter Review, Stride, Cake, Lighthouse, Ink, Sweat and Tears, Brittle Star, Cake, Interpreter’s House, Modern Poetry in Translation,Orbis and SurVision.  Sue enjoys performing her poetry and is a regular guest poet and open mic enthusiast at events in East Anglia.  She is currently working on her second collection, Confetti Dancers, and two more pamphlets.
